The Delaware State flag sits on a field of Colonial Blue with a buff-colored diamond on top of the field. WIthin the diamond sits the state of Delaware coat of arms, which consists of a shield with green, blue, and white stripes with a sheaf of wheat, an ox, and an ear of corn, representing the agriculture of Delaware. THe shield is supported by a farmer on the left and a soldier on the right, while a sailing ship sails above. A banner waves from the heels of the farmer and soldier which reads "Liberty and Independence," which is also the state motto.
Below the diamond reads "December 7, 1787" which declares the day the first state ratified the United States Constitution, which was the state of Delaware. The colors of the state flag of Delaware reflect the uniform of General George Washington.
